Safety and Hygiene

Risk Inventory and Evaluation

Each year, a risk inventory and evaluation is carried out at every childcare location. Potential safety and hygiene risks are mapped together with the nanny and parents.

Safe Sleeping

Unfortunately, in the Netherlands, babies occasionally die of sudden infant death (SIDS) during childcare, whether in daycare centers, with childminders, or at home. Attention to prevention and safety measures can significantly reduce this risk, which is relatively higher for infants between 3 and 9 months.
Kroost Nannies ensures that preventive measures are well communicated to nannies. Cribs, beds, and playpens are discussed during risk assessments. Childcare is only allowed in smoke-free locations, and our nannies receive the latest guidance from Veiligheid.nl. More information about safe sleeping can be found here.

Inspection of Childminder Locations by the GGD

Before childcare begins, the GGD inspects the location where the nanny will provide care, at the municipality’s request. The inspection checks whether a risk assessment has been conducted, the nanny has a Certificate of Conduct (VOG), is registered in the Childcare Sfaff Register, holds the correct diploma, has a valid First Aid certificate for children, has a personal pedagogical work plan, and whether the home environment is safe and clean. With a positive GGD recommendation, the nanny and location can be listed in the National Childcare Register. This register is public and can be accessed here.

Inspection of Childminder Agencies by the GGD

Like all childcare organizations, Kroost Nannies is inspected annually by the GGD. Inspection topics range from pedagogical policy to business operations, procedures, VOG certificates, and diplomas. Our latest inspection reports can be found here. This link also provides access to reports for individual nannies in the National Childcare Register.
